Federal and State prosecution and investigations

One who is under investigation should never talk to the police or other investigative officers.  Anything you say CAN and WILL be used against you.  Often the authorities do not have sufficient evidence to bring charges and they are looking for you to give them the information to bring charges.  Therefore if you are approached by the police, FBI, DEA, etc. it is crucial that you have legal representation and that a lawyer is the only person who has contact with the authorities.  This is particularly true if you are being subpoenaed to appear before a state or Federal grand jury.  C. Zadik Shapiro has represented many witnesses.  Sometimes a consultation with him is all you need.  Other times it is much more extensive.  Call or email him as soon as you are contacted.  Putting it off can only hurt you.  Call him as soon as you are contacted or as soon as you know you might be contacted.  In any case if you are contacted refuse to answer any questions and say that you must talk to your lawyer first.
